for everyone

The Picture Perfect Theme this week is RED

Autumn Leaves

Outside the Court House in Weed, California

(Photo taken in October 2007 with a Nikon D50)

I'd taken several photos of things "Red" for a Sean G's photo contest back in October 2007. This was not the photograph I submitted; however, it was certainly one I liked very much.

And now some rules for the newbies

(not that anyone pays them the slightest bit of attention)

~ Each week a theme will be posted up on Thursday morning, and you are invited to put up your best picture with that theme in mind, it should be just

 ONE and ORIGINAL,

 i.e not off the internet,

Then come back and post a comment on this page
so that everyone can link to your blog and see your pic.

By all means mention your camera and lens used, and if the picture has been altered or enhanced in anyway! Out of the box thinking is encouraged!!

Please open your page for viewing for all for that day...and then visit as many others as you can! Try and post a decent size pic on your blog page, so much is lost if the pic is too small or too big.

The entries will close at midnight on Friday.

The above information was copied from Lise S's blog.

Hi Lise,
I was hoping you'd stop by soon so I could get more of what's going on as, like you say, this is my first time.
So glad you like this one. I was going to use it for Sean's contest; however, I thought everyone would be doing the autumn leaves since it was perfect leaf viewing season. I was amazed when they didn't and wished I'd used this one, but it was too late.
Well, I do hope you had a great Valentine's Day - you'll have to tell me what you got from Bill. I don't think he will ever be able to out do the bobble heads! LOL!!!
Take good care & Thanks!
Hugs!

Hi Marcia,
I really like your red leaves photo. I know nothing about photography and I mean nothing. We have a point and shoot Sony digital camera and an old 35mm Konica that we only used as a point and shoot. I think I'd like to take an online photography class, but don't know if I'd be able to understand the F-stops and all the technical things, if you know what I'm trying to say. Again, great red leaves photo.
Hugs, Sharon

Your photo is beautiful. I like the Christmas coloring (red, green, & white).

I can see why you like this one so much coz I love that shot, it's just so beautiful, so autumn like. TFS!

Really beautiful. The red colors of autumn is something I missed seeing this year following my move from Chicago to Albuquerque. Mostly golds out here but very little reds.

This is truly lovely. While I am not a fan of the fall season, I can see the beauty in the colors. You have captured that beauty here perfectly. Nice job!

Hi Sharon,
Believe it or not, but I just point and shoot! Years and years ago I used to have a Nikon FTN and I had to watch the F stops and the rest. It sort of reminded me of driving a standard shift car compared to an automatic transmission. So, yes, I can do it if I have to or if it's warranted; however, I just point and shoot for the most part - how disappointing is that!?
Take good care - Hugs!

Hi Karen,
I used to live in the San Francisco Bay Area and although we had some color in fall, we didn't have anything like this up in the mountains. We love the fact we have four seasons now and are thoroughly enjoying winter and our last snowfall. Thanks for stopping by! Take good care!

Hi Livy,
I just stopped by your site to see your interpretation of "Red" - very nice indeed. Baby Lex is growing like a little weed - he's such a cute little guy. I can see why you're the proud mama!

I'm glad you like the photo. We have quite a few trees around here that turn this flaming red. That one is down the street at the court house/police station/and city services building. They have several and it's gorgeous in autumn.
Take good care - Hugs!

Oh my! THAT is red!
And even that faint white frame enlightens it greatly!
I remember your red leaf picture very well -they are fantastic!
Great take!

Thanks Dani,
We are fortunate to have such trees that turn this incredible color! There are only about a dozen or so in our area and three of them are around the courthouse. Up here on the hill where we live, our neighbors planted maple trees in the hopes of getting that incredible red for their own. The closest is one small tree across the street, but thus far it only faintly resembles that red - maybe when it gets older it will. Our maple tree is taller than the house, but it's color in autumn is more of a golden and certainly nowhere near red.

Yes, I was going to use this leaf photo as my entry in Sean's contest; however, went with another one that just happened to win in that section.
Take good care, my friend - Big Hugs!

That's what I miss, being out West now. No reds. :( I keep telling Jeremy I need to take him to New England in the fall. He's seen reds (he lived in Virginia for most of his life) but nothing beats Autumn up there! *sigh* This photo makes me wistful – which I think is the sign of a really good photo. Anything that can evoke emotion. Nice, Marcia. :)

Hi Kippy,
When Bill and I were in New England it was in August for his son's wedding back in 1992 - no color then. We used to ask Eric what the leaves were like and he said he left for the hopsital before the sun came up and got home after dark, so he really didn't know. He said they have a special section in the newspaper that keeps a running check on where the best places to photograph the leaves on any particular day. One year he was there, the leaves began to turn, then a big storm came in and blew the leaves off with rain pelting them as well. He said a lot of people who rely on the leaves for tourism were very disappointed. I'd love to go back there in Fall as well. Ours are nice, but not anything near as nice as theirs I understand. Thanks for the compliment - I'm glad you liked it! Take good care - Hugs!

Hi Tint,
Sometimes it takes me forever to join in something even if it looks interesting like this one did. Thanks for the welcome, it's been quite nice here. I do so enjoy looking at other people's interpretation of a topic - keeps things interesting. I like this one because I don't have to rush out and take a photo I can use one I've had from awhile back - just as long as it's mine! Eric had some great shots he sent us one year - I'll have to hunt them down one of these days and check them out again.
Take good care & Thanks for the Welcome!
